-So I've taken a vacation from my blog for the last two weeks; however, if you follow me on Twitter then you have the gist of what's been going down in my scene. If you're not familiar with Twitter, I won't slight you for it...but I would encourage you to see what the mini-blogging app is all about.
I treasure these man-cations due to the sole fact that it allows me to take a step back and view life from a distance. To breathe it in...to feel it in my bones...pulsing through my veins. The camaraderie and brotherhood is priceless. So when I Twitter "Life is too short for only three weeks of vacation," this is what I'm talking about. Below is one of my favorite images from the trip...Monument Valley at dawn.

-Many of you followed the third installment of the MAMMOTH MEN adventures. Let me tell you, it was insane. Every trip the relationships with my best friends grows deeper. I just want to personally thank all of you for your input on our journey. Your votes, contest submissions and comments had us in stitches and smiles throughout our man-cation.

-My Cowboys won on Thanksgiving...Romo's back and they're looking like playoff contenders. Now we just need to figure out how to win our first playoff game in 10 years. Easy, right? Wrong. Remember Seattle 2006.
-Hands down, the winner of this holiday season's ad campaign bombardment is none other than Gap. As if I'm not already infatuated with great photographs of famous faces...Gap has managed to squeeze a ridiculous number of familiar faces into their winter duds. And to boot, they look good in them too...everywhere from billboard's to magazines to TV spots, it makes you want to be them. A sign of any successful campaign effort. But alas, I'm a Rugby man.

*sidenote: Will Forte is a funny, funny man.
-By the way, the above ad was scanned in with my new CanonScan 5600F which I've fallen in serious like with. Why do I think a scanner is the coolest thing in the last 5 minutes? Probably because I've never owned one outside of those all-in-one models. To me, those were always like minivans touting themselves as SUVs...it just doesn't work. I'm looking forward to scanning & importing all my childhood photos into iPhoto (#027 on my 101 in 1,001 Lifestyle List).
-The Decemberists are returning this Spring with a fairy-tale concept album. Long one of my favorite folk groups, Colin Meloy and company are crafting a rock opera of sorts around a woman named Margaret who is ravaged by a shape-shifting animal; her lover, William, who is desperate for the two of them to be reunited; a forest queen; and a villainous rake. Concept albums receive my utmost respect, even if the story sounds a bit...off.
-Lastly, congratulations to photographer Jennifar Detar for winning my Shootsac during the MAMMOTH MEN trip!
