Sure, Annie Leibovitz's A Photographer's Life: 1990-2005 makes a bold statement on an otherwise lowly coffee table, but it doesn't quite bare her sole like the hardcover that embraces her namesake. Annie Leibovitz At Work is Annie in her own words. How she made her pictures. It's a great intimate read into one of America's most celebrated photographers. I picked up my copy at my new favorite hangout, Byrd + Bleecker.

"The first thing I did with my very first camera was climb Mt. Fuji. Climbing Mt. Fuji is a lesson in determination and moderation. It would be fair to ask if I took the moderation part to heart. But it certainly was a lesson in respecting your camera. If I was going to live with this thing, I was going to have to think about what that meant. There weren't going to be any pictures without it."

Never was a huge fan of Annie's until I read this book (In a few hours I might add). What a difference it makes to actually KNOW who, how and what goes on within an artist.

Bought this on a whim and have been reading it every free moment I get. I have always been a fan but I agree - this allowed her to open up to who she is as a photographer and person.
