bev and ja
It wasn't possible. Or was it?
Ja's odds weren't good. In fact, as "Mayor of the Friend Zone" since 5th grade, they were bleak at best. More commonly recognized as the scenario where the female's begun to view a male as a friend only and not a potential suitor. It's a psychological classification supposedly exceptionally difficult to undo...even more so when said female is your older sister's confidante. During his sister's birthday bash years later, Ja threw caution to the wind, a shot of liquid courage down the hatch and attempted the exceptionally difficult. He exchanged his nine year secret crush for vulnerability. He got the girl and subsequently resigned as Mayor.
Ja and Bev are wedding photographers in their own right and run Ja Tecson Photography out of Los Angeles, CA.
Heather Kincaid:
Bev and Ja are fantastic and so are these shots! Love the concept. :)

catherine and kiet

It was love at first sight...for him anyways. Kiet spent the ensuing two months mustering up the nerve to ask out, an otherwise unsuspecting, Catherine. Once his nerves were summoned, they never left. Walking out of the house without his shoes on, forgetting his wallet, delivering roses and a nervous smile-all within their first few dates. They have almost nothing in common, yet it works. They work. "We compliment each other's differences," Catherine assuredly tells me. Laughter casts a potent spell over a woman. Catherine is no exception. He's pulled off her heart from her sleeve; even without pulling on his shoes.

megan and nate
I enjoyed a brilliant weekend in Atlanta recently to photograph Megan and Nate in their hometown. They're marrying in August and I'm really looking forward to going back. Although I don't shoot indoors often with natural light, I'm always seeking out opportunities to do so. We tucked into a diner near Little Five Points for a burger and then headed to Piedmont Park with Hadleigh, their lovable English Bulldog.
Steven Chellappa:
Hi Fred! Just wanted to say saw your ad on the back of Pacific Weddings Magazine, and went to your site.... Really surprised when I heard the music, Lauryn Hill, exact same song I had when I started my website :) Irony! Anyways, really love your work! Great stuff man!

Once again, you never cease to amaze. I chatted with Megan via chat earlier today and we got agree on one thing: We LOOOOOVE the shots.
I wonder what Nate and Megan were listening to on the ipod. Hmmmm.

I'm a geek in countless ways but I get a kick out of seeing my name in print.

*Pacific Weddings magazine can be found at Barnes & Noble, Borders and other fine booksellers.
FRED EGAN:
Heather <<< I REALLY appreciate you taking the time to let me know that :-D (HUGS!!)
(08.26.08 03:18 PM)
Heather Espana:
I know how expensive these ads are (right between ouch and boing), so I thought you might like to know that I am now a Fred Egan Blog checker - because of this ad. I saw the lime, the swing, and the font and I had to come see who put those together ;).
(08.24.08 05:47 PM)
Shannon:
I went to buy a copy at Borders today and sadly there wasn't any...looks like someone bought them all up

Frank! Why you hatin' so much? Do you have daddy issues? What's wrong with being happy for people's accomplishments?
(08.11.08 04:04 PM)
cristycross:
Are you stinkin serious? Fred, I am so lucky to know you! This is so awesome. Do you think little 'ol Clovis, Nm will sell them at hastings? We don't even have a barnes and noble. I guess I'll have to get one when I'm in Lubbock next. Congrats!
(08.10.08 06:19 PM)
Frank:
I am your biggest fan although I am a HATER...because apparently I spend so much time hating on you that I drive up your traffic as I sit in my cubicle pushing pencils. So much of my energy is devoted to hating on you, bringing you down that I don't have any energy left to lift me up...to dream...to aspire for greater things...[EDITED by FRED EGAN]
(08.07.08 04:25 PM)
FRANK:
Fred, that bus trip you guys took, you mammoth man you, was as rad as it gets bro. I would not be surprised if you had some sword fighting...
(08.06.08 06:19 PM)
Matt Dixon:
Great work Fred! I think your work is inspiring so don't mind the haters...they are people who are unfortunately lacking themselves and use their disparaging comments in a feeble attempt to bring others down to their level. You're a class act, bro.
(08.06.08 05:33 PM)
Morgan Matters:
Rock on Fred - I think you are awesome!!! Congrats on your ad - I will go check at my local Barnes & Noble.
Hope all is well!!!

ben and cassie
This is the first time I've seen Cassie since we grabbed our diplomas in our high school football stadium 9 years ago. MySpace and Facebook do a pretty good job of keeping old friends in contact. She's found Ben in Tennessee but they'll be back in Texas this summer for their Chandor Garden wedding. We started off our shoot right...with sno-cones :D

momma:
You caught Cass's toes curling in shot over mailbox

summer rock imix
This week's iMix is meant to be listened to during a hot summer day while cruising with the windows down...the first track by The Ting Tings is bloody brilliant!
In other music news, Greer Rivera wins a $10 iTunes/Amazon gift card to pick up some brilliant tunes for being the 300th commenter on my blog. It actually pays to give your two cents (and be a Facebook fan). What tunes are you guys bumpin' this week??? Cheers!
* Be sure to hop out of your RSS readers if you can't see the iMix :)

FRED EGAN:
Kate <<< Kaolin...I'll have to check them out. Thanks for chiming in with your recommendation!
(06.01.08 01:13 AM)

michael and sophia
Holiday in London was magic and getting to know Michael + Sophia was even more brilliant! Most of the location I scouted out the day before in my video worked out in addition to some pleasant surprises. Portobello Road Market (with the colorful buildings), the Travel Bookshop (where Notting Hill was filmed) and Turquoise Island all rocked...CHEERS!!!

Sharine:
I love this set. It's awesome
(07.05.08 01:39 AM)
Jeremy:
I just love this shoot.. I've been following you for a while *silently* Keep up the awesome. :)

FRED EGAN:
Graciete <<< The Fish Pond was madness! So good! We didn't go near the Electric Cinema, largely in part because I didn't know what/where it was :( So cool that you lived around Notting Hill :D
(05.30.08 03:01 PM)
Graciete:
Hey, just recently discovered your blog and I have to say I absolutely loved this series of shots! I must confess to being a little biased though, as although I currently live in Portugal I spent the first 22 years of my life smack in the middle of your shoot location! How cool to see that shot of The Fish Pond chip shop! Did you get any near the Electric Cinema? Makes me almost feel kinda homesick!
(05.30.08 02:58 PM)
Elena Hernandez:
Love the fresh looking images. Well done! I think this is a place where you felt creative and you definitely did a great job getting your clients to play too!

The 10th shot (where they are looking through the bins) is amazing!! Man, the mood of that pic is brilliant and it it truly one of many of your pics that I wish I shot. I am very new to the photography world but you are truly an influence on me thus far. Can't wait to see more.
(05.29.08 07:37 PM)

You made the cliche red telephone booth look freakin amazing!!!!!! Not that I doubted you...no really. I wouldn't. Ever. :-)
(05.29.08 05:07 PM)
Jeff Youngren:
LOVE these!! The last two are my absolute favorite :) Awesome work, as usual :)
(05.29.08 03:37 PM)
FRED EGAN:
Ann <<< Pulling off a guard shot was a great idea...but proved a little more difficult to pull off given the locations were already shooting at. Guards are only at Buckingham Palace I believe and we were not really even close by. I'll save it for next time I shoot in London ;)
(05.29.08 02:43 PM)
ann:
did u get a chance to try a "sandwiching the guards" shot?
(05.29.08 02:03 PM)

(05.29.08 08:21 AM)
Jess (studio3z):
they turned out AWESOME!! you rocked this shoot. I agree with Jory below...you captured London's look and beauty, without making it too "London-y". Love the umbrella and wall. That B&W field shot is stunning.
(05.29.08 07:56 AM)
Kate:
Freakin' amazing. Love how used the wall + the phone booth.

hans and laura
Hans, fellow photographer in Dallas, all around good guy. We attended the prestigious Hardin-Simmons University together [and dry sarcastic overtones realized...NOW] and frankly his story of how he came to enroll at HSU is quite comical. His wife Laura and he wanted photographs of them together "before they get fat and ugly." Direct quote people. I don't see them getting fat and ugly anytime soon...so we took our time and they indulged me in some of the physical tests of strength I put them through (exhibit A. Downing waffles at Waffle House).
