Southern Weddings is about to debut their premier issue on newsstands this week. I'm honored Lara, Kirstin and crew chose to feature Chinedu & Evana's Atlanta wedding in their Real Weddings. One of the most extravagant weddings I photographed this year, pick up an issue to read their story and other beautiful southern weddings.

Our Mammoth Man blog was recently featured on the blogs of Glamour and Apartment #34. I'm a little shocked at how many people outside of the wedding photography industry read and kept up with this little chronicle of our adventures. Here's to the upcoming third trip!

Jeff & Caroline's Dallas wedding at the Ritz-Carlton is featured in Modern Luxury Dallas Brides' Fall/Winter 2008 issue. I now have the pleasure of calling these guys my friends ... and ... my ... dentists ... and ... my ... vacation ... buddies. You get the idea.

DallasBridesFeatureFallWinter2008.jpg

You may remember Jeff & Caroline from last summer at Zuma Beach/El Matador for their super rad engagement shoot.

And of course from their Dallas Ritz-Carlton wedding.

The ear pressure in my ears was still potent as I lugged my bags up the stairs of my apartment. I clumsily cradled the 13 days' worth of mail in my hands and opened the United States Post Office Express envelope from Pacific Weddings. Thumbing through the pages of the latest issue (Summer/Fall 2008), I discovered Mike and Jenn's wedding story-WHAMMY!!!

If you haven't checked it out already, my friend Jasmine Star just launched her new website (jasmine-star.com). Her "about me" section does include a portrait of herself taken by yours truly. Way to put your face on your brand Jasmine...not that you haven't before, but just as a friendly reminder to all those that recall my biggest pet peeve is when photographers use their namesake while keeping their identity mysterious.

Hey, that's not fair, she's got a cool name that goes well with her uber-cool signature! Mine is "Bunn" so what can ya really do that with that, "hot-cross buns"? (Gee, thanks, ma!) At least, I got friends calling me "MsBunn.com" nowadays. I've got great friends. *sigh*

GRReat! Photo of Jasmine. Love these backlit, mysterious and fun ones of yours. Jasmine's new site is amazing. It is great how you both keep pushing yourself to change and grow your photography, brand, and who you are. Now to work on putting a face on my brand...guilty as charged! and my site itself. Little by little. Thanks for keeping us inspired!

I just realized I'm missing the word "take" in my last comment. Between "just" and "a sweet photo"... Darn. Can't go back and edit.
(06.11.08 01:38 PM)
Chase Giunta:
Uh, Fred... if you would just a sweet photo of me, I wouldn't NEED to to hide my identity behind my name! I'm just kidding... I use a photo of myself... But seriously, anytime you wanna take my photo ;)
(06.11.08 01:36 PM)
anon:
if there is one thing that Jasmine doesn't lack it's pictures of herself on her website and blog. Branding with her photo is not a problem. Good for the rest of us that she's attractive.

Into the Darkroom, the mastermind behind my blog, is running a feature on me as their May photographer of the month. I'm extremely honored to be recognized alongside past featured photographers Chenin Boutwell, Anna Kuperberg, Huy Nguyen and Jay Reilly. I just came across your blog - love it. I think it's great that the A & F quarterly mags inspired you. I was a manager at A & F during the time they sold them in the stores. I used to get yelled at all the time by angry moms esp. for the issue with the girl on the elephant.. :)

photographer of the month?! congrats, but what happened to "Photograph of the Month"??? i miss that.
(05.14.08 10:52 PM)
FRED EGAN:
Shyla <<< You're right, the devil is in the details. I left them out for sake of time...and besides, I didn't want to draw any comparisons to Hasselhoff with my "Baywatch style" knee-high run for my bag.

FRED EGAN:
Mark <<< Thanks and cool of you to stop by! I'm looking forward to meeting you since you hang out with a few of my guy friends.
(05.13.08 11:20 PM)
Shyla:
You didnt mention the tide came and literally CARRIED your camera bag down the ravine... or the fact that you took off all "baywatch style" through the water to rescue the leather bag.... minor details that make the story so much more interesting! ;)

Martin Wolf runs a small photography blog across the pond in Germany. He wrote up a small feature on me and my work. Looks like Hasselhoff isn't the only one that can make the crossover (yeah, I just gave the Hoff some link cred).

germanblog.jpg

If you can translate the article (by leaving a comment) and just giving me the synopsis of what the article is about, that'll getcha an IOU good for 3 hugs. For all I know the article could be saying Fred Egan blows...and well, that would bring about consequences and repercussions.

OK....so I just scolled down and saw that you already got a translation. See what happens when you stay on the computer too late and read blogs...yeah...happens to me alot :)
(05.09.08 12:42 AM)
Sharron:
Here goes...loosely:) Translation: "Fred Egan is a professional photographer from Dallas in the USA. His specialty is engagement, wedding, & bride-photography. But also all sorts of other portraits there is to see from him. I became aware on him particularly through the formation of his Portfolio website and would like to ask you earnestly: Visit the web site and courageously with it following: It should be quiet around you. Sit down relaxed to and lets the music (Angels and Airwaves acoustics) run on his site. Look at the Intro and then the Slideshows of his Portfolios. Simply sink in this wonderful music once for a quarter hour and enjoy the pictures. According to my opinion, the photos work better with multiples in the connection with the music. I can let go personally with something like that completely and dream myself then in another world and build up whole stories around the pictures in my head. Maybe it goes for you similarly. A lot of fun while looking and dreams!" Hey....let's hear it for Babylon's translating program. So...U OWE ME...LOL:)

Pacific Weddings (a well respected wedding publication circulated heavily on the west coast and in Hawaii) is holding their Last Word Photo Contest right now. They've been gracious enough to choose one of my images as a finalist. The rest is up to you.

Now would be an awesome time to help make that bad birthday/burlary experience a distant memory. The winner receives a full page ad (est. $4K) in the upcoming Summer/Fall issue of Pacific Weddings.

If anyone can translate Russian for me I will pay you in hugs. My friend and blog reader, Chriselda, alerted me to this blog which is featuring my work (along with Joe Buissink's and some others I think I know). One problemo, I can't read it. Apparently Chriselda surfs Russian websites on a regular basis-but she's not any help when it comes to translating ;) Can anyone help??? We'll hug it out in Vegas if you can.
